So, my husband and I found a home for our family and we are going to rent out our starter home. The real estate climate is depressed, so why not invest in it. It's risky, yes - everything incurs risk. We are considering taking on another property in the following year or so as well. We have learned so much in this last year. Trying to sell was frustrating - buying in this market is frustrating. The market is saturated with short sales, foreclosures, and bank owned properties - causing a waiting game. But we're doing it.
